Festival passes are now on sale for the expanded 22nd annual Lake Placid Film Festival (Oct. 26-29). The four-day festival applauds cutting-edge feature films, award-winning shorts, precedential independent television, engaging movies and moving tributes. All of these stories are set in the charming village of Lake Placid in Upstate New York.
Adirondack Film is honored to forge a new alliance with Catalyst Story Institute, a nationally-recognized organization committed to growing the expanding world of episodic television. This partnership will allow attendees to explore some of the best independent television content along with panels from industry experts highlighting the rapidly changing television landscape.
“The Catalyst Story Institute supports artists and filmmakers to get their work out there, to help pitch, to help with really practical skills in their careers, and they offer a supportive base to do that,” says Filmmaker and ADK Film Board Member Megan MacDonald.
The festival’s current independent films will include new releases such as: The Stones and Brian Jones,The Old Oak, The Feeling that the Time for Doing Something has Passed, Humanity Stoked, The Teachers Lounge, La Syndicaliste.
Furthermore, the Lake Placid Film Festival will host a track of Upstate Reels and provide an insight into the process and finished product of art created throughout the Empire State, specifically the Adirondacks.
“The Lake Placid Film Festival has been a cinema haven for filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts for over two decades. With the introduction of these new opportunities, there has never been a better time to attend the Festival,” says Interim Director, Matt Fretz.
Friday night’s Gala Tribute dinner celebrates esteemed American Film Producer, Barbara DeFina, in conversation with producer Paul Hardart. Ms. DeFina is one of the most significant and prolific producers of our time, having made critical contributions as a producer of many of Martin Scorcese’s films. Her major Executive Producer credits include Goodfellas, The Grifters, and the Mesmerist, to name only a few.
